The growing complexity of current parallel system makes performance analysis more difficult. One solution is to monitor performance of applications during execution. The challenge is to design effective and flexible performance monitors which cause minimum perturbations in the system. We are currently developing tools to monitor the communication patterns (on both SHRIMP-II and myrinet based systems) as well as a tool to monitor the dynamic threads behaviour on the system.
